Collecting coins

On a week day (Monday through Friday) my steps have been approximately 20,000. Weekends, a lot less. I stopped taking the several minutes to collect the coins from the treasure chest about a week ago (just guessing). I figured they would just be adding up. I was very surprised today (a bit after midnight) when I opened the app and saw I only had a measly 20 treasure chest coins to collect. 🤔 I'm a little pissed. Why wouldn't they just accumulate each day? Searching for an app that doesn't do some BS like that. So disappointed. If I walk, I walk. It shouldn't matter when I decide to collect my reward. So what are we getting rewarded for? Logging in each 24 hr period, or our steps???
