Fun with Google maps in Quebec - mingle 15 1

I don't have a French language pack installed on my phone, so using Google maps when visiting Quebec is a treat.

 

My wife tried to get directions to Richelieu. She's French, so of course she pronounced it correctly. And of course Google maps didn't understand, so I stepped in and asked for directions to "RISHELOO". Google understood.

    We're staying in Iberville, which Google pronounces "Eye-ber-vul".

    Nord and sud are pronounced with the e silent d.

    There are a lot of other examples. I highly recommend using the English only Google maps in Quebec.

      I think they exist but you have to install them separately.
