What is high blood pressure? When we go to the doctors and they tell us oh you have high blood pressure. Does anyone of of us actually know what it means? Does the doctor explained to us what that number is?

Here are my questions to anyone that has high blood pressure

  1. What does the the two number mean?
  2. What can we do to helps reduce our blood pressure?
  3. Can a diet helps reduce our blood pressure?

51 - great question and I will be watching for some answers as I have none. Dr's are so quick to prescribe pills instead of dietary aides .. but I guess when people don't change, pills r easier

No idea. Usually when I get my blood pressure checked they ask if it is normal for me to run low. Sometimes the automatic machines don't register mine.

To understand what the two numbers in the blood presssure reading mean. The larger number is the pressure in which the arteries pump blood out after each beat . It is also known as systolic. The lower number is the pressure when the heart relaxes after each beat. It is also known as diastolic.

Honestly, I didn't really understand what high blood pressure meant until I did some research and talked to my doctor about it. Now I know that making small changes to my diet and exercise routine can really help lower those numbers and keep my heart healthy!
