19.53 - I have first hand knowledge on this topic! My femur (thigh bone) was shattered in an accident I had many years ago. I had an outside fixater stabilizing the leg until a rod could be inserted into the femur bone. I also broke my hip and was non-weight bearing for over 3 months while all that healed enough to support my weight. All that to say, my legs were weak and my thigh muscle specifically was very sore. To recover from this and gain back muscle mass I lost, I started using resistance bands (start with whatever resistance you can handle and work your way up), chair exercises, yoga, and short walks. Increase the distance/time/effort as tollerated. I started slow... I had been bed ridden and in a wheelchair for over 3 months. It took around a year for me to work up to walking several miles at a go but it is doable.
