For those who can't reset their counting steps, read this

Some people seem to have had this issue for 2-3 days but I just discovered it this morning. 

 

I've been reading through all the posts and comments. Some people have said to delete the app and reinstall it so I was worried my old coins would disappear. 

 

But since it didn't seem to work I just deleted the app and reinstalled it and... wow! This worked for me. My old coins were still there but the step counting was reset.
