#9 HP

#9 HP

HP’s name was determined by a coin toss in 1939.

Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard, who met while studying Engineering, founded the company in a small garage. To choose the name, they combined their surnames with a hyphen.

They flipped a coin to decide the order, and although Dave Packard won, they went with Hewlett-Packard because they liked how it sounded.
