My neighbor's tree is just starting to turn colors on the right side- southern side. It turns to gorgeous flaming colors every fall. My tree is the small one on the left. It's quite a disappointing dud.

It's always a lovely sight when trees start to turn colors in the fall. The vibrant, flaming colors can really add a beautiful touch to the landscape. It's a shame that your tree on the left is a bit of a disappointing dud, though. Do you know what kind of tree it is? Maybe it just takes a little longer to change color.

Mine is a red maple. This is our 4th tree in that spot. I think it's the hardpan underneath. Nothing seems to want to grow there except plants with shallow roots. Our tree is over 10 years old.
