I'm not much of an expert on the subject but I believe that essentially there are a few subtle differences between the two types of diet. You have to choose which one best suits your digestive system which varies from person to person.

Keto focuses on high fat diet while low carb just aims to decrease the percentage of carbs consumed

The main difference is carb amount. You need to eat below a certain number of carbs to start ketosis. Low carb you can just have lower than normal carbs, but that may still be too much for ketosis

The keto diet and a low-carb diet both reduce carbohydrate intake, but they do so differently. The keto diet is very low in carbs, typically under 50 grams per day, and high in fats, aiming to achieve a state of ketosis where the body burns fat for fuel. In contrast, a low-carb diet reduces carbs to a moderate level, usually between 50 and 150 grams per day, and allows for a more balanced intake of fats and proteins. While the keto diet focuses on ketosis, the low-carb diet is primarily for weight loss and better blood sugar control without necessarily achieving ketosis.
