Temporada de avispas

¡Odio las avispas! ¡Y son tan molestas en esta época del año! ¿Alguien más ha notado que hay más avispas de lo normal o que zumban más de lo normal por aquí? ¡Grrrrr! 🐝

Ugh, I feel your pain! You're definitely not alone in your wasp dislike. This time of year does seem to bring out more of those pesky critters, and it's so frustrating when they buzz around your space. I've definitely noticed an increase in wasp activity this season, and it's been really annoying trying to swat them away while I'm outside. Let's hope they buzz off soon! 🐝

Emphasis on buzz off! That's the worst part for me, right in my ear!

I'm finding the bees, although loving that thry pollinate my veggies, are more political  this year including getting in the house. There has to be a hive year my house

Bees are useful as pollinators but wasps don't do anything to really help the environement in my opinion.

I feel like they are magnetized to me specifically sometimes, perhaps sensing my fear.

I love wasps! They're great pollinators and I find if I just leave them alone, they leave me alone. Every once in awhile though one will get uncomfortably curious about me and I'll hide inside 😆

Wait, are they actually pollinators? Not to the same extent as bees right?

I think it depends on the species, but probably not as much as bees just because wasps are more predatory (they eat other bugs & spiders & such) so they have more food sources than just plants. Whereas bees rely entirely on nectar & pollen. But wasps do visit flowers for nectar & pollen when they're available, and pollinate the flowers. Also, the other bugs that wasps eat include pests like aphids 👍. So, if someone in the house had a known wasps allergy, or i wound up with some particularly aggressive wasps, I'd get them the heck out of there. Otherwise I just leave them alone.
