How do you avoid the plastic? It's so hard when I have to buy new tools because I only want to buy quality things that last, but they almost always come encased in some sort of plastic coccoon

It's a new era, and there are a few companies that sell refillable items. They usually come in a biodegradable packaging.

19.80 - I do not throw food waste into the garbage. I am unable to compost where I live, I just toss food scraps outside for the animals to have (if it is safe).

19.81 - For example, I do not throw grapes outside by my house where there are a bunch of cats. Grapes (and raisins) are highly toxic to cats.

That's a great idea. We cannot compost either because of the HOA regulations. But I plan our meals carefully to generate as little wastes as possible, and the rest goes into an ordor-controlled baskets. With plenty of the sun and regular turning, they compose cleanly without much ordor.

Your idea is wonderful. I try to compost food waste but not easy.
