This year's summer Olympics was such a whirlwind of emotions. Between Celine Dion's showstopping song during the opening ceremony and the performance of the closing, was an athlete whose journey there was the epitome of hope and opportunity, Arshad Nadeem. He won Pakistan's first and only gold medal in javelin. Considering that he could only train using gallon bottle for water and sand, his feat is all the more enduring. His entire village pooled together for the funds to get him there. And he is young too! It's isn testament to what someone can do when they are given the correct resources and opportunities.
