17.02 - peaches

I love peaches. They are my favorite fruit and quite possibly my favorite food. Except if they are straw-y. If the flesh has no flavor or juice, I have to hide it in a smoothie. Luckily, this batch looks good  ๐Ÿคค

I prefer nectarines as I don't like the fury skin on peaches ๐Ÿ‘ย

17.26 - Nectarines are wonderful in smoothies! They have a more robust flavor and thicker flesh I think. My standard smoothie is strawberry and nectarine. If I have spinach I throw that in, too, but I almost always have strawberries and nectarines on hand in the summer. I don't get to make smoothies in the off months.

17.30 - You definitely should! Depending on what kind of blender/smoothie maker you use, make sure to cut your peaches into small pieces. I use a Magic Bullet and the skin of the peach gets wrapped around the blades which burns up the motor.
Here is a super simple peach smoothie recipe to try!

โ€ข 5 ounces vanilla Greek nonfat yogurt
โ€ข 1 1/2 cup fresh or frozen peaches
      โ€ข 1/2 cup crushed ice
โ€ข 3/4 cup *milk of choice*
      โ€ข 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
โ€ข 1/2 teaspoon sugar (adjust type of sugar and sweetness to preference)
โ€ข 1 tablespoon chia seeds (presoaked for 10 minutes in water)

I will only eat it when it is still hard and crunchy. I don't like them when they are soft..

I'm not too far from the Niagara region and we get some pretty awesome peaches from there.

17.29 - So, how about you ship some of those good peaches to me in Ohio? Lol, just kidding. Ohio is not known for peaches, unfortunately. They ship ours in from Georgia and Michigan, apparently. At least the stores I have been to recently, they have had signs saying 'peaches fresh from _______'.

17.28 - Awwww, that is special. Did you eat peaches together or pick them? Have a peach dessert you liked at family gatherings?
