#4   I heard there are many factors that cause high blood pressure. Especially in family members, they have similar lifestyles, share the same foods, and have similar genetics. I think high blood pressure would be affected by these many factors.

A family history of high blood pressure is a risk factor for developing HBP. Having one or more close family members with HBP before the age of 60 means you have twice the risk of having it also.

There are multiple factors and conditions that can influence your blood pressure but genetics does play a role in this as well

A lot of different factors go into hypertension, genetics is apart of those factors.  People with  family history of high blood pressure have a higher risk of developing it. (21)

It would depend on the cause of high BP in your dad. If it was primary High BP i.e. there was no underlying disease, your risk increases. If he developed it at a young age, your risk increases as well. If he an underlying disease that could be inherited, then your risk increases too. And while genetics definitely increases your risk of high BP, it's good to remember it will only increase the risk. If you are maintaining a good lifestyle - regularly exercising and eat and healthy diet, maintain your weight and mental well being, you can bring that risk down to 0. But at the same time, if you are 61, it's important to check your BP at regular intervals, say 3 months so that if you do develop high BP, you treat it immediately.

If one or more members of your family have high blood pressure than you are in risk that you can have it too.
