12.i start planning atleast 2 weeks before especially clothes and food
I go pretty crazy when I plan my travels.
Aside from the generic transportation, which includes the flights and the train travel. I also look into the public transportation of the local area.
Then there is booking accommodation whether it be a hotel or guesthouse. Location is key because it has to be fairly close to the attractions that I want to visit and be easily accessible.
Next, I look at which attractions are popular and deemed to be must see. I will evaluate whether I personally want to visit them.
And then I delve into random places that are more off the beaten track. Maybe it could be a random restaurant or other interesting locations that are not as well publicized.
If there are passes that are sold, evaluate the value versus the admission prices of the attractions that I want to visit.
Because different places have different opening times and random closure dates I would look ahead to ensure that I would not get any surprises when I go.
Then I would look into the food and drink options be it from local supermarkets, or restaurants and café that I would want to visit.
There would usually be local food and cuisines that I would want to try and I will check their menu and the prices to see if it's within my budget and also the foods that I want to try.
I will map them out and see which restaurants are close enough to certain attractions so that I can visit them on my way to or from a certain location.
I also determine the length of my visit based on how many attractions and time I would want to spend there.
And then each day is detailed out for places to eat and places to see and the method of transportation of how to get there. The timing will be adjusted accordingly.
It might seem like a lot but I am also flexible and will leave spans of time for relaxation or just to do anything.
The amount of time that I want to spend, there will also help me determine whether I should purchase certain day passes or weekly passes for transportation.
Depending on the place, it might be more convenient to take a taxi or Uber instead.
I really treasure each trip that I take and that's why I plan it to such detail and it has never failed me yet.
I also find that your vacation begins as soon as you start to plan because your mind is already there, and the anticipation grows as you chart out your itinerary.
I find that doing all the homework beforehand while at home leaves me plenty of time while on vacation to enjoy it. It's so much better instead of stressing about where to go or where to eat while there.
