Quand on me dit d'aller dans telle rue, je demande ce qu'il y a dans le quartier. Dites-moi quels sont les magasins, le type d'habitations, ou autre chose. En voiture, on n'a pas toujours l'occasion de repérer les panneaux de signalisation. Dites-moi que je ne suis pas seul.

The most hilarious yet accurate directions I was ever given were from my sister telling me how to get to her new house. She had no idea of the street names. The part I have always remembered was you turn at the little church, go past the graveyard and turn when you see the cows. I actually found her house without any trouble. And this was in a city I had never been to and before we had the navigation tech we have now.
