I've heard lots of stories recently about the incredible connection between Newfoundland and Ireland. Things like similar accents, many same turns of phrase, etc. If you are from Ireland and you go to Newfoundland, chances are you'll be welcomed with open arms! I'm from the West, but I still think that's so cool (an Irish friend here was telling me about his experience there earlier this year - he was basically whisked off his feet (and away from his non-Irish wife!) and into a local pub by some locals when they heard his Irish accent. He was practically adopted!
Any one have similar experiences? Anyone from Newfoundland want to chime in?
