That's an old saying in general but it is true. The problem is that in practice, it can be the hardest thing any of us can do. And people will try us to that breaking point!

This is a good proverb to live by. As the old saying goes, "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all". That pairs well with what you're saying. Sometimes it's very hard to keep your mouth shut but inevitably it is the best.
