Not sure why but for some people they get it instantly and others ( new update version) they have to wait. I personally redeemed a gift on Tuesday and got it right away.. I see other people said up to a week.

It seems to be mostly new /newer users who have to wait. I have not had the issue either as I've always gotten the cards instantly even last week.
The app as far as we can tell has multiple versions depending on what type of phone you have and where you live
