I got into watching Olympic swimming this year after learning if Katie Ledecky. She is an amazing athlete! Some of the things I learned about Ledecky was how she grew a love for swimming at a young age and made her debut when she was 15 years old. I found it fascinating that she has broken a world record sixteen times. She holds the nineteen fastest times ever in the fifteen-hundred-metre freestyle, the sixteen fastest times in the eight-hundred, and fifteen of the fastest twenty-five times in the four-hundred. The numbers start to numb even if the dominance does not.
Katie is The most decorated woman in World Championship history,she is also the only swimmer to win five consecutive world titles in an individual event, the 800meter freestyle! I hope young women continue to look up to her and follow in her footsteps!
