It's about a bunch of kids whose houses have adjoining backyards (hence the name). Every day, they would get together and have imaginary adventures together in the big backyard.

Ai miei figli piaceva molto quando erano piccoli e io e mia moglie ci divertivamo a guardarlo insieme a loro.
Molti altri spettacoli erano noiosi o imbarazzanti, ma questo è stato piacevole.

The song was catchy but I never really got into it with my kids. We watched a lot of PBS. They are 20, 19,, 17 and 14 now.
