Trying to grow Avocados

I'll have to bring them in during winter where I live, but the seeds come free when you buy the fruit, so I figured I'd give 'em a shot. Google said this was the best way to sprout them. 

IMPORTANT: Avocado is toxic to cats (and dogs)! Oni, who you see in this picture, is never in this room unsupervised and is only interested in the pits because I'm photographing them. He sniffed them and then walked away 👌
