Omg, I feel your pain! My Minion (young male cat) escaped his carrier just outside the vet's office when I was taking him to be fixed. My boyfriend and I walked 10-15 miles (and many many many hours) everyday going back and forth combing the small community we live in looking for him. We tried all kinds of things:
• shaking treats/food
• shaking noisy toys (for Minion it was jingly balls)
• calling for him using the most common name (I always say mini-Min when it is time to eat so that's what I called out)
Ultimately, what worked, was sitting and letting Minion come to us. He was so so SO close to where he slipped out of his carrier. He was hiding and scared. It took 6 full days and a pile of catnip for him to come out, but we got him back.
If your cat reacts to catnip, id try getting some fresh catnip and putting a large pile in a humane trap or cat carrier.
Good luck!
