48 is strict, how long do you maintain this for. Surely it's a short term thing. I can exercise with 24hrs but not 48 hours fasting

You should see results as long as your calorie in is less than calorie out. Your body may just need less calories as you are smaller having lost some weight. Either fasting window should work.
