Parkinson's

Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurological disorder that primarily affects movement. It occurs when nerve cells in the brain that produce dopamine, a neurotransmitter crucial for controlling movement, become damaged or die. This leads to symptoms such as tremors, stiffness, slowness of movement, and balance problems. While the exact cause is unknown, both genetic and environmental factors are believed to play a role. Parkinson's disease can also cause non-motor symptoms like depression, sleep disturbances, and cognitive changes. Although there is no cure, treatments such as medication and therapy can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life. My great grandfather had Parkinson's before there was much anyone could do for it. Rest in peace, AE.
