Michael Corleone, the youngest son of the powerful Mafia Don Vito Corleone, initially wants nothing to do with his family's criminal enterprise. However, when his father is critically injured in an assassination attempt, Michael is drawn into the world of organized crime. As tensions rise between the Corleone family and rival Mafia factions, Michael's loyalty and ruthlessness are tested as he rises to power within the family, ultimately becoming the new Godfather.
