Years of crunches. I don't have outstanding abs but I can see some definition. Saw it at higher weights than ever and more than I saw at lower weights. Long term consistency. It's otherwise weight loss, the less fat on your stomach, the more you'll see. You can also do the whole thing with building muscle with weights and high protein low carb diet, I personally don't bother with that. I have tons of sugar lol. I've actually put on 5+ lbs in these past months bc I'm not working out enough for my intake but I'll clamp back down by the fall, not overly concerned, just not thrilled with the flab.
