      It's not just those 2 styles. It can be personally tailored & thus can be anything between 12&18 hours fasting depending on individual preference although most common seems to be 16:8 but I've seen a few with 17:7 or even 18:6.
      It comes down to whether a person can still satisfy daily recommended nutrients & calories safely withour burdening body so lifestyle & other factors play into it too.
