Hunting at Roadside IV #14

Mountain tansy-mustard (Descurainia incana) is a biennial herb with a slender, greenish, often hairy stem sometimes exceeding a meter tall.

Seeds and leaves of the plant are edible. The seeds are used to make mustard oil and are used as spices. The leaves are eaten as mustard green. Moreover, the ground up seeds have been used in the treatment of stomach complaints. A poultice of the plant has been used to ease the pain of toothache. An infusion of the leaves has been used as a wash on sores.
