I have found that intermittent fasting, for example 18 hours fast (only black coffee or tea, and water) with 6 hours of eating (I do 12 pm to 6 pm) combined with doing HIIT (high intensity interval testing) workout is the best for losing belly fat.
If you're a beginner then you can try just 5 minutes of HIIT such as the Bowflex Bodyweight Workout five minute holiday season HIIT (search on YouTube).
This includes push ups, side climbers, planking, jumping, etc. All done within 5 minutes not counting warm up and cool down.
The most important thing is being consistent.
Of course if this becomes too easy then you can try higher levels of HIIT.
