When using gym equipment, it is very important to remember "safety first"!! If the equipment isn't used correctly, injury is likely to occur. Always start off with lower weights, even if you know you can lift heavy things. Try to find someone who knows what they are doing, a friend, a trainer, or even someone you met at the gym! Always ask how long they've been training before you ask for advice haha. I liked starting with dumbbells because they are one of the most versatile things. Motivation is key! Consistency! Work up slow and steady :) I started out at 5lb dumbbells and now can lift 25 lbs!
