    I've done it and it helped me reduce weight but I would begin slowly and as soon as you start feeling faint go eat

    Well that depends who you ask and how many hours you plan to fast for. There will always be differing opinions of what is safe and what works.  I think the key always moderation. If you lose weight too fast or feel exhausted for example, it may be too much too soon.
