Doctor office modesty

As an American living in Italy I've had to forgo the paper gown modesty of doctors offices in the US. My experience here has been, you walk into an office and they tell you to strip. No gown, just booty naked if they need you to be and when you really think about it, we're just wasting paper in the states. Any thoughts?
