Well, since everyone is sharing photos of the food they made at home ...
... here is a simple dog treats I make whenever I find good deals at the market. I included the recipe for beginners.
BEGINNERS VERSION, RAW JERKY
STEP 1: PREPARE THE CHICKEN
Chicken breasts are the easiest if you are new to this.
(1) Trim visible fat.
(2) Thinly slice the chicken, about 1/3 to 1/4" thick.
STEP 2: COOK IT IN VINEGAR AND WATER
(1) Mix vinegar and water: 1 tbsp for 2~3 cups of water. Eventually, you will learn your dog's taste and adjust the ratio.
(2) Place chicken in the solution and marinate for 1~2 hours. Do not marinate too long; the chicken protein will fall apart. Vinegar cleans the raw meat while promoting digestion.
STEP 3: DEHYDRATE.
You can sun-dry them, but if you have never done this before, don't.
OPTION 1: Use a dehydrator.
I use a dehydrator for all types of food, making snacks for the family, too. You can find many affordable and good ones out there. Get one if you don't have one. For example, https://amzn.to/42Jtrvk.
(1) Dry the chicken with kitchen paper towels, etc.
(2) Place them in the dehydrator.
(3) Dry them at about 120 to 130°F (50 to 55°C) for 1.5 days. The chicken will come out crispy but tender enough (you can still feel the softness when you press it.)
OPTION 2: Bake to dehydrate.
You are not actually baking and cooking them. You should be dehydrating it. So, if you plan to use your oven, preheat it to 250°F.
(1) Dry the chicken with kitchen paper towels, etc.
(2) Place them on a cooling rack.
(3) Leave them in the preheated oven for about 2 hours. The chicken will come out crispy but tender enough (you can still feel the softness when you press it.)
